Course Descriptions:
Global History and Geography I - (9th Grade)
This is the first part of the Global History requirement for high school Social Studies. This course calls for students to investigate common themes that recur throughout global history. Cultural diffusion, belief systems, migrations, trade, multi-regional empires and conflict will all be covered, starting with the pre-historic era and concluding with the Age of Exploration. The course culminates in the students taking a final exam in June.
Global History and Geography II (10th Grade)
This is the second part of the Global History requirement for high school social studies. This course calls for students to investigate common themes that reoccur throughout global history. Cultural diffusion, belief systems, migrations, trade, multi-regional empires and conflict will all be covered from the time period of the Scientific Revolution to the modern world. At the conclusion of the class students will take a NYS Regents exam, which encompasses material from 1750-today.

Grading Policy
Each term’s final grade will be based on the total number of points that you accumulate. Tests will be worth more than quizzes, and quizzes will be worth more than homework/classwork. Your average will then be determined by dividing the number of points that you earned by the number of total points that all the assessments and assignments add up to.
