Math was never so much fun! Ms. Thompson’s 3rd graders at West Side played a game called Zap! The students worked in teams to solve math word problems, and cooperatively explained and reviewed their solutions. Teams that solved the problem correctly got to send one player up to pick Zap cards out of the hat to collect points. They can collect as many points as they like, but they need to watch out for the Zap! If they get zapped their turn is over, and they collect no points that round. Ms. Thompson shared, “The students love to play this game, they learn a lot about taking risks in addition to the math concepts they are practicing.” FUN!
