Core Values Mural
Created by art honor students

At Lloyd Harbor School, Principal Valerie Massimo and the School Improvement Team have worked with the entire LHS community to create a culture of Core Values. “Walking the walk” of these values is important to the students and continues to hold true to its acronym “HIKER” Honesty, Inclusiveness, Kindness, Empathy, and Respect. Last year, students at each grade level were assigned one of the five words and created their own Words of Wisdom based on the meaning and interpretation. Art Department Chair, Ms. Oswald, suggested incorporating these Core Values into a mural. The High School’s new Art Honor Society, in its first year, surprised LHS with a triptych mural now installed in a main hallway of Lloyd Harbor! Art students took to the task creating a magnificent walkway of students through an academic playground of these strong character values. In addition to the mural, these five Core Values are incorporated into various LHTV segments. They have also been added to the LHS t-shirts, agenda books, and folders. Thank you to the high school Art Honor Society students for gifting this wonderful mural, and thank you to Lloyd Harbor students for being role models and living up to these words, each and every day!
