La semaine nationale du français 2019 Cold Spring Harbor Jr./Sr. High School celebrated National French Week! Teachers and students joined together to promote the language and francophone cultures around the world. French classes enjoyed making their own crêpes “au chocolat”, “aux bananes”, et “aux fraises” avec “la crème chantilly”. They also took a moment to send notes to say “merci” and French fun facts to administrators, teachers, friends and family. Posters with French vocabulary adorned the halls. AP French students volunteered to speak to underclassmen to promote their curriculum as well as the language. A beautiful rendition of the French National Anthem, La Marseillaise, was sung to several classes by 7th grade French student, Zoe Abelson. Some classmates were even seen making French fashion statements. Most students finished up the week of celebration participating in a francophone culture trivia contest given through the American Association of teachers of French (AATF). The French club marked the occasion with a lovely dinner outing at Sage Bistro Moderne in Woodbury. While students embraced their newly found knowledge, positive energy was felt throughout the building wrapping up a fun-filled week of fashion, food, facts and fun!
