LLOYD HARBOR MAKERSPACE MAGIC

In February, fifth-graders at Lloyd Harbor were busy learning and creating during the beginning of a “Makerspace” unit. Students are encouraged to create something that interests them using diverse skill sets and tools that could include anything from Chromebook technology to fabric, 3D printers or cardboard boxes, Legos, glue guns or hammers! All projects were constructed in the Creative Learning Lab (CLL) and ranged from students making batteries, pajamas, a candy machine, rocket ship, aquarium tank, race track, ping pong table, memory boxes, and more! All projects were on display in the Little Theatre on Feb 14th for family viewing, and they were fabulous! In the words of one of the greatest innovators of all time, Albert Einstein, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.”
