West Side rolled out the red carpet for the premiere of the "West Side Musical Revue" on Friday evening, June 18. Students strolled past the paparazzi donning their movie star apparel, to the delight of Director, Mr. Christopher McKee and Choreographer, Ms. JoJo Conley. The pandemic was not going to stop these students from doing what they do best! Students from the fifth and sixth grade rehearsed, recorded and filmed by class, with no two classes ever being in the same room at the same time. In addition, the actors had the opportunity to participate in real-time masterclasses working with professional videographers and an audio engineer to create their very own film. Mr. McKee noted, “Through a tremendous amount of hard work, and the magic of video and audio editing, the cohorts disappeared, and the students performed ‘together.’ That togetherness was the essence of the entire musical revue. The students reached a bar so high, it defied logic! These young performers reached new heights and created a production that was truly groundbreaking.” Bravo to the West Side Theater Arts, and all the student actors for a fabulous production!
