WELCOME BACK Jr./Sr. High !!! From Daniel Danbusky…

“Since my arrival as the new principal here at the Jr./Sr. High School, we have hit the ground running! I want to welcome my new administrative team of Assistant Principals; Jason Huntsman and Caitlyn Coffey, who jumped in and fully immersed themselves for a successful opening day. I owe a huge debt of thanks to the custodial staff and to Brian Graham, Director of Facilities, and his staff for the large-scale repair work that was completed over the summer, including safety measures. We welcomed back 775 students on opening day in what proved to be a very smooth and happy first day of school. Over the summer, STEM Director, Kimberly Libertini, welcomed 17 students to the summer Research Program taught by Jaak Raudsepp. We held a successful orientation and barbecue for 7th graders and new students, where Chromebooks were distributed by 40 student ambassador volunteers to help ease the transition. This in itself was remarkable! It was so refreshing to see such enthusiasm and involvement prior to the school year, and the level of excitement was contagious. We have increased the utilization of our outdoor learning spaces, as well as providing outdoor lunch space for the entire 7th grade. Human-to-human interaction is extremely important to us at this time and putting the screens down and engaging outdoors face to face is a welcomed sight. We had over 50 parents attend our first PTG meeting outdoors in the courtyard. Perhaps the most impactful moment was the incredible 9/11 Remembrance Event held on Seahawks Field prior to the Friday Night Lights football game. Thanks to Joe Monastero, Executive Director of Technology, and his team. The entire community of schools came together, including all grades and administrative teams, to witness this tribute dedicated to our heroes on that tragic day 20 years ago. I was so proud and grateful to be a part of this ceremony upon my first year here as principal. There was even a helicopter flyby which I was not expecting, hence, emotions ran high. We have so much ahead to celebrate and engage in, and I look forward to serving as your new principal. Welcome back to all the families and students!”
