This year at the CSH Jr./Sr. High fall “Beach Clean Up” community service event with club advisor, Ms. Erin Oshan, some of the junior high students jumped in the waves and said, ”We should do a Polar Bear Plunge this winter to raise money to support local organizations!” This student driven event took hold, and became a reality sponsored by the CSH Marine Biology Club, and together they are making it happen! Ms. Oshan shared, “All proceeds will be evenly split between the NY marine rescue center which rehabilitates sick turtles, seals and other marine mammals that find themselves stranded on our local shores and 4OCean which is removing tons and tons of plastics from our global waters.” Thank you, students, for helping to promote conservation and environmentalism, especially since we live in a community surrounded by water.
