National Merit Finalist
Officials of the National Merit Scholarship Program have selected Cold Spring Harbor High School senior Annabelle Coles as a 2023 National Merit Scholarship Finalist. This prestigious honor is awarded to students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. Principal, Daniel Danbusky, was honored to present her with a Certificate of Merit for this achievement, along with her Guidance Counselor, Heather Friedland. This distinction places her in a group representing about half of the top 1% of American high school seniors; she is one of only 15,000 finalists out of 1.6 million eligible students to receive this award and qualify for a potential scholarship! Rankings are based on students’ scores on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) given in the fall of their junior year. After qualifying as a semi-finalist in the fall of 2022, finalists must continue to demonstrate a commitment to high academic standards and other requirements to advance. CSH School District and the entire administration are extremely proud of this truly remarkable achievement – congratulations to our scholar, Annabelle Coles! Annabelle will be attending Dartmouth College this fall and we wish her the best of luck.
