Two students in the Cold Spring Harbor Research Program competed in the finals of the New York State Science and Engineering Fair held at the New York Hall of Science on March 27. Senior, Hannah Van Son, presented her research, "The Mechanosynthesis of Yb3+ Doped CsPbCl3". Hannah did her research at NYU under the mentorship of Dr. Claudia Avalos. Senior, William Wei, presented his research, "Astromineralogy: Using Differential Equations to Model Stardust Light Spectra". William did his research at the University of Texas-El Paso under the mentorship of Dr. Angela Speck. Hannah finished in third place in the Materials Science category while William received Honorable Mention in the Physics and Astronomy category.
