Gratitude Days of Sharing Thanks…
Bus drivers were moved to tears and smiles as they were handed a bag of goodies and a personal thank you note from the students at Lloyd Harbor School on World Kindness Day. It was all part of a district initiative collaborating with all the schools for #CSHUnites – where administration and staff come together to recognize the work and team spirit put forth together with staff, teachers and students.  Upon receiving their kindness notes, one bus driver shared, “Small acts of kindness like this go such a long way! This means so much to me.” It was a day of heartfelt joy and humble surprises, as each grade of students had a chance to deliver goodie bags, notes and handmade posters to the many unsung heroes that work quietly behind the scenes.  Custodians, cafeteria workers, security guards and bus drivers all received a secret surprise. It doesn’t get much better than this as we all look ahead to the Thanksgiving holiday. Peer mentors from each grade, along with advisor Dr. Moss, gathered to thank the security guards for “always keeping us safe, helping us cross the road and standing outside in the cold.” To the custodians, we thank you “for being so kind, we love coming into a school that is so clean and bright,” and to the café staff “thank you for making healthy and nutritious meals and snacks which makes us so happy.” And to the bus drivers, thank you for “making sure we follow the rules, making sure we behave, and keeping us safe on the bus.” The messages shared were greeted by smiles that touched a lot of hearts today.   There is really no greater gift than a simple thank you, written on a handmade card.   Priceless!
