AMLE Conference Supporting Young Adolescents
A team from the Jr. High recently participated in the annual AMLE conference held this year from November 1-4 in National Harbor, Maryland. The AMLE (Association for Middle Level Educators) Annual Conference is the world’s largest conference dedicated to supporting the social and academic growth of young adolescents. This year, AMLE celebrated 50 years of supporting the unique nature of this age group and members of the CSH Jr. High School faculty were fortunate to have the opportunity to participate. Jr. High school ELA teacher, Jessica Buttafucco; Jr. High School Psychologist, Suzanne Main; and Jr. High School Counselor, Jennifer Pickering participated in multiple workshops and events offered during the conference. Workshop topics included effective strategies and emerging trends in specific subject areas, tools to support the social and emotional needs of students and enhance executive functioning skills, and understanding evidence based middle school practices like advisory, responsive scheduling and restorative practices.
