Graduates Walk the Hallways of Their Elementary Schools and Share a Senior Breakfast on Graduation Day!

Last year, Jr./Sr. High Principal Daniel Danbusky was excited to spearhead a new initiative for the graduating seniors. This heartfelt tradition was emotional not only for the soon to be graduating seniors as they took their “senior walk” down the halls of their elementary schools – but it proved to be just as emotional for their former teachers. Alumnae of Lloyd Harbor and West Side Schools traveled by bus in caps and gowns to pay homage to their former teachers and walk the halls again six years later. Afterward, they traveled to Goosehill for their final senior stroll down memory lane, and of course had to visit the playground! Each school was lined with students in the hallways holding greeting signs and raised hands to high-five the graduates. It felt like a celebrity moment and everyone involved agreed this special new tradition was beyond sentimental! It was also a poignant moment for our younger students to see what lies ahead and to realize there will always be a connection to their elementary school family. Graduating seniors were also treated to a breakfast this year prior to taking their final walk on Commencement Day, and each had the opportunity to invite a special teacher. Many of the elementary teachers were invited, and the sense of pride and honor bestowed upon these invitations were priceless. Congratulations once again to the Class of 2024!
