MakerSpace Inventions by our 5th graders….
Lloyd Harbor's Little Theater was bursting with creativity on June 10 as fifth graders shared their MakerSpace projects with their families and each other. Throughout the month of May and into early June, students worked in the Creative Learning Lab with their classroom teachers and Library Media Specialist, Whitney O'Donnell, to test their creativity, imagination and engineering skills! After researching European explorers in a joint project with the library and social studies classes, fifth graders jumped into their MakerSpace unit with projects ranging from origami and bird houses to Rube Goldberg creations, motorized cars, Starbucks cafe's, how to "Wear the Earth" and so much more. They planned, worked, and revised their plans—often multiple times—as they learned a new skill. Thank you for sharing your talents. Awesome job, grade 5!
