Moving Up Day – Goosehill Primary

Moving Up Day is always an emotional and sentimental day for families as they say goodbye to this very special place they have called home for two years. On June 21, students gathered at the outdoor amphitheater on a beautiful sunny morning in the courtyard. Two separate sessions were held, with music teacher Donna Zarrabi leading the students in song. Principal Christina Cosme called them up one by one for their Moving Up certificates as she beamed with pride watching each student take their march across the stage with a smile and wave to their families in the crowd. She shared, "I wish you the very best as you embark on your journey to West Side and Lloyd Harbor. I have no doubt that you will continue to shine wherever you may go. Remember, you will always have the cherished friendships you forged at Goosehill. Congratulations, children!"
Families also received a welcoming send off from Superintendent Jill M. Gierasch, who also bid farewell as she takes her leave for retirement at the end of this year. She acknowledged the many wonderful accomplishments of the students and all the marvelous suggestions they have shared with her to keep improving upon their beloved school – including a wish for a 5-star pizzeria! Afterward, refreshments were served and students proudly pointed to their art work on display in the courtyard. Wishing every student the very best of luck in their new schools next year. And remember, you will always carry in your heart your Goosehill family. It was wonderful to celebrate YOU on Moving Up Day… Congratulations!
