Toy Drives Districtwide

Thank you to the many organizations and “busy elves” districtwide who spearheaded toy drives, coat drives and volunteerism this holiday season to help those less fortunate. Once again, the generosity of our community, students and staff is beyond gracious.

Boxes and bags were collected at Goosehill Primary, Lloyd Harbor and West Side School to be donated to the Helping Hands Rescue Mission in Huntington Station. The Jr. High School collected toys and games to benefit the children at Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center in New Hyde Park, and Helping Hands Rescue Mission.
Thank you to Club advisor Karen Uhl-Smith and the Amnesty International Club who sponsored a winter coat drive. Club members collected gently used winter coats and donated them to the Helping Hands Rescue Mission. Ms. Smith also organized a HS toy drive as well which contributed to collecting even more toys!

In addition, Social Worker Lauren Navarra, advisor to Peer Mentor Club, volunteered with the students for Save The Children the weekend of December 17 at the TriCYA in Huntington to help sort through thousands of donated toys this holiday for those in need. Thank you to all the students for your volunteer service to help our local neighboring communities. Mer s. Navarra expressed her sincere gratitude for the monetary support raised at the Jr./Sr. High which far surpassed her goal of $300, by raising $810!

What a remarkable way to give back this holiday season!
