After School Programs
Our After School Program runs for the majority of the school year over the course of two or three sessions. While there are a range of courses, some student favorites are Homework Club, Chess Club, Newspaper Club, Coding, and Basketball/Capture the Flag.
We hold our annual camp out on a Saturday in June. Every West Side family is invited to pitch a tent on the lawn at West Side and participate in organized games and enjoy the outdoors. Everyone is invited to a BBQ dinner, sponsored by the PTG, and enjoy marshmallows by the bonfire. If you decide to sleep in your tent, you will wake up to some coffee, juice and bagels before you pack up.
West Side families are invited to our annual Halloween Party. There is a DJ, games and activities for the kids, pizza, baked goods, and sometimes best costume prize giveaways. We encourage everyone to come in costume.
Ice Skate Night
Ice skate with friends and family at a private evening skate at Syosset-Woodbury Park. This event takes place on a Sunday night in January.
Sixth Grade Get Together
West Side and Lloyd Harbor parents get together to organize an outing for the kids to enjoy some fun time together. In the past they have participated in gaga, bowling and gone to Bounce.
This event is held on a Sunday and all Dads (or if dad cannot attend any other male figure in your child's life, or mom) come to West Side and enjoy a few hours of games, Bingo, and dinner. Spend some quality time with your child in their second home.
The West Side Talent Show is open to all students in grades 2 - 6 and takes place at the Performing Arts Center at the High School. Performances range from soloists to groups acts. Performances also range from singers to dancers to musicians and everything in between.
The Unity Dance takes place in June at the Junior High School and is a great opportunity for current 6th graders to spend time with 7th graders.
West Side Run
Our annual 5K and 1 mile run raise money to support cultural arts and other programs offered by the PTG. It takes place on a Sunday in the spring and includes the entire family. It is one of the two largest fundraisers of the year
West Side Theatre Association
West Side Theatre Association was created by a group of West Side parents who were passionate about the Arts and wanted 5th and 6th grade West Side students to have an opportunity to perform in a play during their years at WSS. A wonderful play is organized every year and held at the High School PAC (Performing Arts Center).
