Mrs. Latham's Website

I am the School Psychologist at West Side School.  The children often refer to me as the "Feelings and Friendship Teacher".  I have the privilege of working with students in a variety of settings which include teaching lessons in the classrooms, running peer mentoring groups, providing school-based counseling and conducting assessments to help determine children's learning styles.

   As part of our social emotional literacy program I will be teaching monthly lessons in the classroom, focusing on a variety of topics, such as resiliency, being an up stander and understanding differences . These lessons will support and promote our District-wide social emotional literacy program: the RULER approach. The goals of this approach are to teach students to Recognize, Understand, Label, Express and Regulate their emotions in a healthy and productive way, building upon the skills they develop as they progress in their academic career in the Cold Spring Harbor School District.

I run the "Friendship Club", which is an informal weekly group that meets in my office during lunchtime, where students have the opportunity to discuss friendship situations and develop conflict resolution strategies.
