Retirement Announcement: Mona Hecht
At the April Board of Education meeting, the Board approved the resignation for purposes of retirement for Ms. Mona Hecht, Assistant Superintendent for Counseling, Student Services & Human Resources, who has served in the educational system for 34 years.

It’s the perfect combination of sweetness and knowledge when second graders take the stage to embark upon their journey across America to share their wisdom, songs, trivia and sweet smiles! It’s a huge deal for second graders when they reach their unit on the history of our nation and the Symbols of America to be recognized and honored.

#CSH Unites for World Art Day in April!
Cold Spring Harbor Central School District continues its monthly collaboration amongst all the schools. For April, the theme was “Art in Our Schools Month.” Thank you to all the schools for participating, especially by recognizing that April 15 was “World Art Day.” Nationwide, this is a day to celebrate the arts and appreciate their importance in our lives. It is a day to come together and appreciate the beauty of art in all its forms.

Into The Wood, Jr. The West Side Musical
Be careful what you wish for, as Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s cockeyed fairytale came to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical. The West Side cast and crew of 5th & 6th graders ignited the stage kicking off their musical production of “Into the Woods Jr.” This story features all of your favorite characters - Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the Witch… in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables.

K-6 Art Exhibit on Display CSH Library
Thank you to our community for coming out for the student art exhibition reception at the CSH Library on April 9. What a wonderful turnout! The students were incredibly proud to share their work, and the stories behind the projects! Thank you to all the K-6 art teachers for coming out to support their students and for their constant guidance and encouragement.

AATSP Poster Contest Winners!
In celebration of World Language month, the fourth-grade FLES students created beautiful posters! Each year, the AATSP (American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese) selects a theme which students show in their posters. This year's theme was “El español y el portugués como lenguas globales: conexiones y oportunidades más allá del aula.”

NAMM Foundation Award for Music
K-12 Music Chair Brent Chiarello was thrilled to announce some very exciting news. “For the 3rd year running, Cold Spring Harbor has received national recognition by the NAMM foundation with a “Best Communities for Music Education” designation! I’m so proud of the work that our teachers do each day, and this recognition is a testament to their dedication. Thank you for all you do to support our students and the music program!”

Colonial Day at West Side
West Side 4th Graders treated their parents and guests to a culminating musical performance celebrating Colonial Day times. Under the direction of music teacher, Leah Martin, students sang, danced and played instruments, as well as regaled us with all kinds of Colonial Day knowledge.

Board Game Donations
At West Side School, the Pologruto family has raised awareness and worked in collaboration with the student council for a very important fundraiser the last two years. Board Games and crafts were collected for Cohens Children Hospital including items like coloring books, crayons, markers, play dough, board games, and pads of paper for their young patients.
