Welcome to the Fifth / Sixth Grade Team
I feel very lucky to have joined the 5th/6th Gr team this year. I am so happy to be working alongside my excellent colleagues; Mrs. DeRosa, Mrs. Gerver, Mrs. Baratta and Mr. Arloff.
The "History" of Me:
I am a proud, former student of West Side. It was a dream of mine to one day return here as a teacher. It gives me great joy to be back teaching Social Studies. I've spent the last ten years teaching upper grades; 2-years in third gr, 2-years in fourth gr, 5-years in fifth gr and 1-year teaching across grades 3-8. On a more personal note, my passions include reading and traveling; especially, to historical sites. During college, I studied abroad in Rome and concentrated on art-history. I'm so happy to be here, at West Side, teaching the subject that I have so much affection for.
I strongly believe in the phrase "it takes a village". We all want the best for your child. I know that the biggest commonality between West Side and home is that we want your child to enter Middle School feeling confident and prepared. The number one way to ensure this is to have open communication between all the adults in your child's life. Ensuring their success is a team effort and I'm thrilled to be on the same team with all of you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me regarding your child's academic or social-emotional growth. To set up a meeting you can reach out to me via email or phone.

In class, we use Class Dojo. It is a website that helps us keep track of the student's positive behaviors. In all West Side classrooms we are constantly looking for "the good" in each other and this site allows us to monitor the awesome things your child does on a daily basis. Some behaviors we focus on include "keeping it clean", "showing grit", "following the charter" and many others. Please email me if you would like to be connected and oversee how they contribute to the community.
At home, students can access their HW online.
