    Curriculum Guide - Grade 4

    Welcome to Fourth Grade

Fourth grade is a year full of many new challenges and experiences. Students will explore the rich history of Long Island and New York State, develop problem solving skills, become accomplished writers, and continue to appreciate reading.

The classroom climate encourages cooperation, individuality, respectfulness, and responsibility. We strive to create an environment where each child will achieve success. Working together as a community of students, parents, and teachers will help us to reach our goals.

    Grade Specific Information

    State Testing

The New York State Board of Regents has set higher learning standards for all students. This year, our children will be taking three New York State exams: ELA, Math Assessment, and Science Assessment.

    Homework Guidelines

Homework is an important part of helping to increase a student’s self direction and responsibility for his/her own progress. The guidelines for fourth grade homework are 60 minutes of written homework (including reading).

    Messages

Parents who have a question or concern should leave their telephone number with the office secretary, and the teacher will return the call as soon as possible.

    Forgotten Items

Any forgotten item, such as lunch or snack, can be brought to the school office. We will make sure your child receives the item as soon as possible.
